What does it mean to you to have a nation service day?

It means bringing all the services together and celebrating the work we do

How would you describe what you do to a 5yo child?

We go out on boats and rescue people

When did you first realise you wanted to be in the RNLI?

I have always worked around water, I am a power/sail boat instructor and I like to help people and seeing the RNLI all over the country

What is the most rewarding part for you?

Obviously the main part is helping people when they are at their most distressed but oe of the most rewarding parts is working with the team we have built as well as the other services.

Is there any part of the job you don’t like?

Is there any particular day that made you proud to be in the organisation?

Every day we perform a rescue is great, I always feel very proud of the work we do. I am also very proud to be a member of the RNLI today on National Services Day standing beside othere emergency services.

Has there been any scary moments on the water?

There has been a few, we go out in all conditions in the dead of winter but we are well trained in dealing with all situations.

What is your most important piece of equipment?

My Life Jacket, it is designed to keep myself and another person afloat, so it is a vital piece of equipment.

Message to the public:

If you become in trouble in the water, try to fight your instincits and lie on your back, try to float and wait for help.
